Leader of opposition Kondwani Nankhumwa has called for an inquiry into how Bill 22 of 2021 Loan Authorisation was smuggled into Parliament.
Briefing journalists today in Lilongwe, Nankhumwa said he supports the request by the Business and Finance Committee of Parliament which has already written the secretariat to allow the committee to undertake the exercise.
Nankhumwa blames the smuggling of the Bill on laxity by the House saying standing orders such as observing 28 days notice before any Bill is tabled is not strictly adhered to.
The Bill was to allow government to borrow K93 billion from Baroda Bank for construction of residential houses for security agencies like police and MDF.
